Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it’s back to work we go. I don’t know about you, but even I was feeling a little trepidation about ‘plugging back into the matrix’ after a (largely) digital/work-free Christmas.
Now I’m not one for resolutions, as most years I’ve broken them within about two weeks and just felt a bit rubbish. But I recently read a very interesting blog about goals.
The essence of the message was that without a goal, it’s very difficult to have a target or focus, and in turn, a sense of achievement or satisfaction. This could be about weight-loss, smoking, learning a language or, you’ve guessed it, work.
I speak to a lot of people who just ‘go to work’. For some that’s satisfaction enough, but many feel like they are in a rut and just ‘cranking the handle’ and need something to focus on.
It made me think about things I want to achieve this year. And that then got me thinking about how I might achieve those things. I began writing a basic plan, and I’m adding to that plan as I go along. I have to say it’s exciting. I have an idea of what I want to achieve, and that is the motivation for me in the morning. It’s giving me a renewed purpose.
I can strongly advise it. Even if you don’t achieve what you set out to do, you may well get close, which is a lot better than not doing it at all.
Have a great week. And good luck with those goals!
